Links I Like

How was your week? It’s been an exciting one for me! Not only did I land my first paying client, I reached out to women who inspire me and asked if we could collaborate. Most of them responded immediately with a resounding YES! I’ve always feared the cattiness and competition that can come with collaborating with women. I’m learning that confident women don’t see other women as competition. They know there is more than enough to go around and everyone will get their time to shine. All it takes is hard work, dedication, and confidence.

Here’s a look at some of the links I liked this week. I hope they inspire you as much as they’ve inspired me.

Music Video for Saudi Women’s Rights

Although this video is a bit tongue and cheek, the message behind it is very serious. I love that women all around the world are feeling empowered and know that there is no time like the present to make their voices heard.

Female Flight Crew Lands Plane in Country They’re Not Allowed to Drive In

Could there be anything better to follow that video than a story about the first all-female pilot crew landing a plane in Saudi Arabia?

You Can See the Most Beautiful Sights in America on This $213 Train Trip

From planes to trains, this trip doesn’t sound half bad! It wasn’t just the price tag that caught my attention. A chance to visit some of the greatest sights in America from the comfort of a train sounds pretty convenient. I like that writer Derek Low took some time to visit cities along the way and didn’t just stay on the train the entire time. This could be an adventure I plan for myself before I move to Asia later this year!

Travel Tips from a Plus Size Woman

When I read this honest and witty post from Chantel of Voyaging Vagabond, I knew I had to reach out to her. She shared it in a Facebook Blogger Group that we’re both in. I commented immediately and contacted her via social media. Later in the week, we video chatted and realized we have a TON of things in common. I’m super excited to have met Chantel and thanks to these social networking groups, I feel like I’m finding my tribe.

It’s here! The world’s first body positive, commercial-use stock photo site is here!  offers weight neutral stock images for as low as a dollar. It’s obvious that the site is still in its infancy, so there is not a lot of model diversity and the images aren’t mind blowing. Still, having more size inclusive stock images for writers and advertisers is essential.

Light Bulbs

The first time I saw an upcycled Light Bulb fixture was in Asia. It was the cutest thing I’d seen that day and I just HAD to snap a photo of it. Soon after, I noticed a trend in Light Bulb drinks. Someone had seen this trend in Asia and decided to bring it back to the States.

I think it’s the coolest thing EVER! So I wanted to share where to get your lips on this cool new beverage trend. Some of them even offer alcoholic options, so you can literally get LIT!

The Brooklyn-based Viiza puts edible stars in some of their Milk Teas and even has boozy bulbs. Mango Mojito anyone?

Artist Creates Drag Queen Barbies

I’ve mentioned many times how much of an impact Barbie had on me as a child. I think that my love for fashion developed out of needing more outfits for my Barbie and deciding to just make her some cocktail dresses out of socks and scrunchies. So this video about an artist turning Barbies into RuPaul’s Drag Race contestants made my LIFE!

  1. I loved the video about the Saudi woman demanding equal rights and I shared it on my facebook. I also liked the train journey link altough any possible plans to visit the us have been postponed due to certain stamps of certain countries in my passport. Sort of wonder why saudi arabia is not among them, especially after seeing this video.Glad to have found this blogpost.

    1. Thanks so much for your comment!! Yeah, don’t get me started on the US Travel Ban. I’m absolutely disgusted! Hopefully you can get here soon! I’m thinking about doing the train ride and have looked into it. It’s $250 one way from New York to LA and that’s sitting/sleeping in a chair for two days. The sleeper car is nearly $1000.

  2. Glad you found women that love to collaborate with women. Promoting each other is the best and I am glad that you do it. What a wonderful group of links this time. Truly inspirational.

  3. This is such a creative roundup! I agree that the Saudi Arabian video is empowering. So is linking up with other strong, like-minded females. Girl power!

    1. Thanks for your kind words Asia. I believe there’s enough light for us all to shine in our own unique way. The wiser (older) I get, the more I realize that my only competition is myself. Everyone else is either my inspiration or motivation. Girl Power!!

    1. Thanks for your kind words and checking out my blog! It’s INCREDIBLY difficult for me to stay politically neutral on my blog. However I enjoy sharing these stories so we see how much we are alike! ❤️

  4. This is so refreshing. All of these links make me smile. The world needs more posts like this.
