Fat Camp 2018 was so incredible! I’m already counting down the days until Fat Camp 2019. Fat Girls Traveling‘s first annual fat positive adult summer camp brought about 20 women together in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. For a rustic retreat that fed their mind, body, and spirit.
Fat Camp 2018 was such a success that I know it will just continue to grow! This is an opportunity for you to get involved and save your space while there’s still time. Register today.

Each morning began with yoga on Girls Hill. Nothing is mandatory. But everyone was encouraged to participate. The gentle class is held just steps away from the cabins in the crisp morning air before breakfast.
Workshops & Photo Ops
There were daily workshops led by one of our fantastic speakers, aka V.I.C. (Very Important Campers). This year that included; Sarah Chiwaya of Curvily, Ashley Carter of FabEllis, Liz Black of P.S. It’s Fashion and Ms. Full-Figured North Carolina Plus 2017 Christian Peterson. Our V.I.C. shared tips on self-care, personal style and led workshops on being fearless with fashion and finding your authentic voice.

This wasn’t your run-of-the-mill fat camp, as diet talk was off the table. There wasn’t any calorie counting or wasting time worrying about weight. In fact, we flaunted our curves in front of the camera. Campers were given themes before camp and anyone could participate in the shoot.
To beat the Carolina heat we lounged in the pool daily. And if you didn’t want to lounge…
You could dance! A DJ is a must at a Fat Camp Pool Party.

If you’re too cool for the pool, there were many other options. Including tubing, paddleboarding and The Blob!
Arts & Crafts
The first art project we did was tie-dye our Camp shirts. So Christian is wearing her Camp shirt while doing the Arts and Craftivism project.
Every camp needs a camp photo and motto! Fat Camp 2018 was bold, bright and full of light.

Every night there was a fun activity! This summer we had a PJ Party, White Murder Mystery Masquerade and a Luau. What could be better than cute outfits, cocktails, and laughing all night with new friends?
